For 22 years the Virginia Avenue Elementary School has sat vacant in the Delectable Heights neighborhood of Petersburg, VA. EquityPlus purchased the school, secured bond financing and is pressing to secure its final financing to remove hazardous materials located within the school buildings and to perform historical renovation in accordance with Virginia Department of Historic Resources and National Park Services directives. When complete, the school will be transformed into 49 apartments available for tenants 55 years and older and earning 60% or less of the area median income. Construction start is expected in the Fall 2024.
